Usual Suspects
Featured in the first issue of Usual Suspects, a magazine released by DeathBrigade, Issue 1 showcased Local San Fernando Valley/Los Angeles based Artists of various mediums. Wanting to include a range work, I displayed a large format acrylic painting triptych, a custom upholstered chair, a handful of decks and a mixed format analog drawing.

Graphite on 10x3 ft artist paper. This large-scale graphite drawing illustrates a set of written works discussing the fluidity of gender expression, specifically through my lens as a Latinx artist. This work plays on recurring motifs like the Dobermans and the switchblade. The size and placement of the piece were a choice made to take as much space as possible while contrasting with being put in a corner, expressing the common experience of women and feminine people. I was also interested in viewing the corner as a uniting force and how that perspective allowed the piece to be viewed from varying points of view.
